Intuition is often portrayed as the opposite of mathematics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In reality, expert intuition can emerge from enormous amounts of compressed experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A mathematician may look at an unfamiliar expression and suspect a solution before proving it. A physicist may sense that an equation is wrong because its structure “looks incorrect.” A chess player may immediately recognize danger without consciously calculating every variation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The mysterious component is not necessarily supernatural.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It may be unconscious computation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Human brains constantly process information without conscious awareness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A person catches a falling object before consciously calculating its trajectory.
