Article 25 — The Rapid Thinker
The opposite extreme is a mind capable of extremely rapid processing.
Cognitive Velocity
A rapid thinker might quickly compare alternatives, recognize patterns, retrieve information, and update decisions.
In dynamic environments, this could be extraordinarily valuable.
Speed and Accuracy
Speed alone is meaningless if errors increase.
The true superhuman would need both velocity and precision.
Imagine simultaneously increasing:
- processing speed,
- memory capacity,
- attention,
- accuracy,
- and error correction.
The resulting mind could respond to changing environments with extraordinary agility.
The Human-Time Problem
Other people would still operate at ordinary speeds.
The rapid thinker might experience conversations as slow.
Waiting could become psychologically difficult.
The person might need deliberate mechanisms for slowing down.
The Value of Pause
Even a rapid mind needs reflection.
Sometimes the best decision is not the fastest decision.
A truly advanced thinker would know when to accelerate and when to stop.
